ROV SUBMERSIBLE PUMP 20Kw DUAL OUTPUT SPECIAL PURPOSE

Requirement was to produce a submersible pump dual pressure hydraulic powerpack.
- Output (1) 12-15 Ltr per min @ 180 bar
- Output (2) 35-40 Ltr per min @ 200 Bar
- The unit was to be self pressure regulating powered from a 3 Phase top deck generator. One simple plug and play unit.
- With the depth requirement and length of cable losses the unit would require 3000 Vac to operate to overcome the cable losses (up to 3 miles).
- The pump internals would be in 3 compartments, the centre filled with transformer oil, the other two with hydraulic oil
- A brand new Brook Crompton 11 Kw @ 2940 rpm motor arrived with all of its guarantees and certificates in place and it was looking forward to serving a long and happy life. The Stator coil would need to be rewound from a 3 phase 415 Vac Delta to a 3 phase 3000 Vac star connection. The final test would include a 6000 Volt insulation test for safety.
- The armature has all its weights removed as it would now rotate in fluid and cause a lot of fluid friction, so smooth was the order of the day.
- Free running no load current was 7 amps.
- A custom housing and manifolds fitted into the compartment sections was designed and 3D cad verified. Cross port drilled and assembled.
- The motor was never intended to go deep sea, but this is what we did to it.
